HOLMES FAMILY

The Holmes family has been residents of Monmouth County, New Jersey, for over a century, establishing deep roots since the 19th century. The familial ties of the Holmes family intertwine with the Revey family tree, as evidenced by the marriage of Rebecca E. Holmes, the daughter of Silas Holmes, to Richard Revey.

Silas Holmes

Silas Holmes was born in 1826, in Shrewsbury, New Jersey. His parents are not known at this time. Silas Holmes married Mary Ann Cost in Monmouth County, New Jersey.

  • Ann E. Holmes born in 1848 in Monmouth County, New Jersey. Ann E. Holmes married Ebenezer REEVEY

  • Julia Holmes born in 1850 in Monmouth County, New Jersey.

  • Josephine Holmes born in 1852 in Monmouth County, New Jersey. 

​

  • Rebecca E. Holmes born 1852 in Monmouth County, New Jersey. Rebecca E. Holmes married Richard Peter REEVEY.

Silas Holmes and his wife, Mary Ann (Cost) Holmes are buried at White Ridge Cemetery in Eatontown, New Jersey.

William H. Holmes was born in 1848 in New York City. His mother was Ann and his father's name is not known at this time. 

On September 8, 1883, in New York City, William Henry Holmes married Susan Rebecca JOHNSON, daughter of John and Susan Johnson.

William Holmes was employed as a cook and was employed in New York City and Rhode Island before settling in Monmouth County, New Jersey with his wife and children. His daughter Floressa Holmes was born in New York City and  Harriet Holmes was born in Rhode Island. 

William and Susan (Johnson) Holmes children: 

  • Floressa Holmes born 1883 in New York City. 

  • Cecilia Holmes born in New York City

  • Harriett Holmes born in Rhode Island.

  • Dora Holmes born in Monmouth County, New Jersey

  • Maude Holmes born in Monmouth County New Jersey. 

  • Gladys Holmes born in Monmouth County New Jersey

  • William Holmes born in Monmouth County Jersey.
