The Lenape, also known as the Delaware people, are an Indigenous group native to the Northeastern United States. Their name, "Lenape," means "the people" or "true people" in their Algonquian language. Historically, the Lenape lived in areas now known as New Jersey, eastern Pennsylvania, southeastern New York, and northern Delaware.

 

They played a significant role in the early history of the region, interacting with European settlers and other Native American tribes. The Lenape are known for their rich cultural traditions, including their language, oral history, and spiritual practices.
